  Recreational Basketball Rules and Regulations

 

IMMACULATE CONCEPTION YOUTH ORGANIZATION


K - 2nd Grade Girl's Division

 

    During practices only coaches and players are permitted in the gym. Parents and siblings are asked to wait in the lobby.

    No food allowed in the gym.

     No non-ICYO basketballs are allowed in the gym.

      No jewelry can be worn by any players during the game.

      A maximum of three coaches are allowed on the bench/sideline during games. You may have additional staff at practices but they must meet full coaching requirements as well.

     The defensive team can not guard the offensive team beyond the 3 point arc.

     One timeout per half. No carry over of unused timeouts.

      Teams will play four 8-minute quarters with a running clock. The clock will be stopped at the 4-minute mark for substitutions.

      The youngest five players in age from each team will play the first 4 minutes of each quarter.

       No player can play more than 4 minutes per quarter without permission from the other team.

      There are no referees. One coach from each team will be on the court to supervise and help the players.

       There will be 1 minute between quarters and a 5 minute half-time.

3rd - 5th Grade Girl's Division

  A single 4 minute quarter will be played for overtime. The game will end in a tie if the score is still tied after the overtime period.

The defensive team can guard the offensive team once they cross half-court.

One timeout per half. No carry over of unused timeouts.

Teams will play four 8-minute quarters. The clock will be stopped at the 4-minute mark for substitutions.

The youngest five players in age from each team will play the first 4 minutes of each quarter.

No player can play more than 4 minutes per quarter without permission from the other team.

Boys Recreational Basketball Rules and Regulations

Kindergarten Boys participate in a Basketball Clinic with Intramural Games

1st - 2nd Grade Boy's Division

 

·       No food allowed in the gym.

·       No non-ICYO basketballs allowed in the gym.

·       No jewelry can be worn by any players during the game.

·       Practice and Games will conducted using a 27 inch ball.

·       Eight (8) foot goals will be used.

·       The defending team cannot guard the offensive player outside the arch (3 point line).

·       One (2) time outs per half.  No carry over of unused time outs.

·       Teams will play (4) 10 minute quarters with a running clock.  The clock will be stopped at the 5-minute mark to allow for substitutions.  There will be (1) one minute between quarters and a (3) three-minute half time.

·       The youngest (5) five players in age from each team will play the first (5) minutes per quarter.

·       No player can play more than 5 minutes per quarter without permission from the other team.

·       Two coaches from each team will be on the floor at all times.  They will act in the capacity of referee and to coach the players.  One coach on the offensive side and one on the defensive side of the court at all times.

·       The offensive team has 10 seconds to get the ball across the arch after passing half court or possession will go to the defending team.

·       No fast breaks!!!

3rd - 4th Grade Boy's Division


 

·       No food allowed in the gym.

·       No non-ICYO basketballs allowed in the gym.

·       No jewelry can be worn by any players during the game.

·       Practice and games will be conducted using a 28.5 inch ball.

·       The defensive team cannot guard the offensive player beyond the arch. (3-point line)

·       Two (2) time outs per half.  No carry over of unused time outs.

·       Teams will play (4) 10 minute quarters with a running clock.  The clock will be stopped at the 5-minute mark to allow for substitutions.  There will be (1) one minute between quarters and a (3) three-minute half time.

·       The youngest (5) five players in age from each team will play the first (5) minutes per quarter. Should you be missing a 3rd grader, put your least productive 4th grader in for the first (5) minutes.

·       No player can play more than 5 minutes per quarter without permission from the other team.

·       Five personal foul rule will be used.

·       After the sixth team foul per half, the offensive team will be shooting a one-and-one.

·       After the ninth team foul per half, the offensive team will be awarded two free throws.

·       The offensive team has 10 seconds to get the ball across the arch and in play or possession will go to the defending team.

·       With three (3) minutes remaining in the game if the losing team is down by ten (10) or more points they can defend outside the arch.  If the game is within ten (10) points then both teams can defend outside the arch.


5th - 8th Grade Boy's Division

 

·       No food allowed in the gym.

·       No non-ICYO basketballs allowed in the gym.

·       No jewelry can be worn by any players during the game.

·       Practice and games will be conducted using an official size ball.

·       The defensive team can guard the offensive team once they cross over half court.

·       The offensive team has 10 seconds to get the ball across half court and in play or possession will go to the defending team.

·       Two (2) time outs per half.  No carry over of unused time outs.

·       Teams will play (4) 10 minute quarters with a running clock.  The clock will be stopped at the 5-minute mark to allow for substitutions.  There will be (1) one minute between quarters and a (3) three-minute half time.
